Itinerary:

8:00 AM: Begin your adventure by ascending the impressive Doi Inthanon National Park, famously known as the roof of Thailand, as its peak is the Kingdom’s highest at 2,565 meters. On the main road to the summit, you’ll find the two adjacent pagodas, built to honor the 60th birthday anniversaries of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1987 and Queen Sirikit in 1992, respectively.

Morning: Near the top of the mountain, enjoy the Angkha nature walk, a short hiking trail through a beautiful forest area that’s open year-round. If conditions permit, take the Kew Mae Pan nature trail, a longer hike that takes you through forest areas and an open “alpine-meadow.” Note that this trail is closed during the rainy season (June 1st to October 31st), and a local guide is required for this walk.

Lunch: Enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: On the way down the mountain, visit The Royal Agricultural Station, a project initiated by the King to eliminate opium cultivation. Here, you’ll find beautiful gardens, greenhouses with various plants, and a lovely restaurant.

Next, explore a fresh produce market run by the Hmong hill tribes who inhabit the mountain. If you’re up for more adventure, embark on an easy trek that descends into the forest, leading you to a Karen village known for coffee growing, and then to the Pha Dok Siew Falls, where you can relax in a gorgeous natural pond fed by the waterfall’s chilly waters.

As Doi Inthanon National Park is famous for its numerous lofty waterfalls, conclude your day with a visit to Mae Ya Falls or Wachiratharn Falls. The spray from the waterfall keeps the surrounding area cool and fresh, making it a perfect spot for taking memorable photos.

4:00 PM: Return to your hotel, ending an unforgettable day on the roof of Thailand.
